Mathematics of land: The city is divided into five categories

The land that Tata Steel holds as sublease is divided into five different schedules:

Challenge of encroachment and 125 settlements

History is witness to the fact that whenever there is a delay in the lease agreement, encroachment has increased. The lack of agreement between 1996 and 2005 led to rapid encroachment of 1,786.89 acres of land, leading to the establishment of 86 settlements, which have now increased to 125 settlements. Tata Steel has already taken out the land containing these settlements from sublease.

'Special 9' team formed for security

This time the administration does not want to take any risk. Till a new agreement is reached, a joint team has been formed under the leadership of Dhalbhum Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) to keep the vacant land encroachment-free. A total of nine officials from the district administration and Tata Steel have been included in this, who will ensure the security of the land.

Protest and administrative motion

On one hand, the East Singhbhum district administration has sent the proposal for renewal to the Revenue Department of the state government, on the other hand, many tribal organizations are opposing this lease renewal. These protests and legal aspects are also likely to be discussed in detail in the meeting on February 26.

It has been only three-four days since I assumed the post of Kolhan Commissioner. After the President's program, a meeting will be called on this and brainstorming on the lease renewal agreement will be started.
