State Bureau, Lucknow. The facilities for girl students pursuing higher education in the state will increase. The Union Budget has opened the way for building one women's hostel in all 75 districts of the state.
At present, except IITs, IIMs and some selected big institutes, most of the colleges and universities do not have adequate hostel facilities for girl students. Due to this, many times girl students have to leave their studies midway or have to travel from far away places.
Now girl students studying in every district will get safe and accessible accommodation. This will be of great convenience especially to the girl students coming from small towns and cities to study in big cities. Due to construction of hostel, their studies will not be interrupted and they will be able to complete their education with peace of mind.
The state government is already working towards setting up a state university in every division and a private university in every district. About 29 lakh girl students are registered in higher educational institutions in the state.
In such a situation, their number may increase further with the opening of hostels. At the same time, facilities like hostels have also been started by the Labor Department for working women.
