Jagran correspondent, Faridabad. Cyber Police Station Central has arrested an accused from Mumbai Airport in a cyber slavery case. The accused has been identified as Akash Mahadev Bhanwase, a resident of Karayale, Solapur, Maharashtra.
Cyber Police Station said that a resident of Sector-78 had lodged a complaint saying that he was looking for a job. In July 2025, he received a message on WhatsApp in which his basic information was sought. He was lured with a high paying job in Thailand.
He fell into the trap of fraudsters, who sent him a ticket to Bangkok in August 2025 and called him there. After reaching Bangkok he was taken in a car. After going some distance, the driver snatched his mobile phone.
He was taken to Myanmar through a river near the Myanmar border. There he was held hostage for about 15 days and was forced to commit cyber crimes by threatening to kill him if he refused.
He was taught the methods of cyber crime and was forced to trap people through dating apps and commit cyber fraud in the name of investment. Myanmar Army rescued him from there during a raid and sent him back to India. Based on this complaint, a case was registered at Cyber Police Station Central.
During investigation, with technical help, police identified Akash Mahadev Bhanwase. Lookout circular was issued against him. As soon as the accused landed at the Mumbai airport, the police took him into custody and informed the Faridabad police.
Police brought the accused from Mumbai airport. During interrogation, it was revealed that accused Akash Mahadev Bhanwase used to collect data of youth looking for jobs and then contact them and lure them with high paying jobs in Thailand.
After this, the victims were given visas and tickets and called to Thailand, from where they were taken to Myanmar, held hostage and forced to commit fraud.
