Yuvraj's swing in the winds of Beldih
Jagran correspondent, Jamshedpur. Golf is a game of uncertainties, where a perfect putt makes the king and a missed putt makes the pauper. A similar scene was seen at Beldih Golf Course on Friday, the second day of Tata Open 2025. In this season finale of PGTI, Yuvraj Sandhu waved his stick like a magic wand. He not only thrilled the spectators with a sizzling score of 8-under 64 but also planted his flag at the top of the leaderboard.
With a total score of 11-under 131, Yuvraj is now three shots ahead of his nearest rival. Till yesterday he was struggling at eighth place, but today by making a huge jump of seven places he has cleared the fairway to win the title.
Yuvraj had a humble beginning. After scoring three birdies on the front nine, he suffered a minor setback with a bogey on the 10th hole. But in golf terms, it was like a lion taking two steps back.
What happened after this became history. From the 11th hole to the 16th hole, Yuvraj scored six consecutive birdies. As if his bat was being operated by remote control, his precise putts, placed from a distance of 12 to 15 feet, went straight into the hole.
Yuvraj Sandhu has been a six-time winner in PGTI this year and has already secured his ticket for next year's DP World Tour by winning the Order of Merit. Now their eyes are on winning a record seventh title in one season. His confidence and ball-striking shows that he is in no mood to stop.
On the other hand, 21 year old Shubham Jaglan also proved his skills at Golmuri Golf Course. Shubham, playing only the third PGTI tournament of his career, scored a brilliant 4-under 66. With a total score of 8-under 134, he is placed second and is ready to give a tough competition to Yuvraj.
After his brilliant innings, Yuvraj said, till yesterday there was fatigue, but today I was completely in-the-zone. The winds were strong in Beldih today, but the experience of playing in Asia has taught me not to fight the winds, but to flow with them. These circumstances further enhanced my game. The tournament's halfway cut was set at 2-over 144, with 53 professionals making the cut. Now the excitement will increase further in the next two rounds, as the leader group will have to play half the game in Golmuri and half in Beldih, where different challenges await them on both the courses.
