Samvad Sutra, Jayanagar (Koderma). Ten children are missing from Gadiyai Birhor Tola of Jaynagar police station area since February 1. Even after six days, the children have not been traced, due to which there is an atmosphere of panic and anxiety among the Birhor families. The relative told that all the children had left the house saying that they would have a feast in Parsabad, but did not return.
The missing children include Nisha Kumari (7), Ramesh Birhor (5), Sajni Birhor (8), Birju Birhor, Mithun Birhor, Shivani Birhor, Kalpana Birhor, Rekha Birhor (8), Anisha Birhor (6) and another child. When the children did not return, on February 3, the relatives approached local head Rajendra Yadav. Showing sensitivity on this, the Chief immediately informed the Jayanagar police station in-charge and the Block Development Officer.
Despite this, the police did not show seriousness at the initial level. When no trace of them was found even till February 5, the children's relatives reached Jaynagar police station on Friday and requested for a search. After this the matter reached senior officials. On this, SP Anudeep Singh took the matter seriously and formed a special team.
On Friday, under the leadership of trainee DSP Diwakar Kumar, the technical cell team including Inspector Sujit Kumar, Tilaiya police station in-charge Vinay Kumar, Chandwara police station in-charge Shashibhushan Kumar, Jaynagar police station in-charge Umanath Singh, Mahila police station in-charge Hema Kumari, Tilaiya Dam OP in-charge reached Gadiai Birhor Tola and interrogated the relatives. Trainee DSP said that the matter is being investigated and the children will be traced soon.
Even after information, police administration did not show promptness
Local head Rajendra Yadav said that as soon as he came to know about the missing children, he immediately informed the Jaynagar police station in-charge and the BDO, but both the officers did not take it seriously.
Both of them postponed the matter saying that the people of Birhor community are wanderers and the children will return on their own. If the administration had been active in time, perhaps the children could have been detected sooner. The insensitivity of the officials has raised serious questions on the functioning of the police administration.
