Jagran correspondent, Kanpur. Motorcycles, cars, buses and other 1076 vehicles which have completed more than 15 years in government departments have been condemned. The Sub Divisional Transport Office has canceled the registration certificates of all these vehicles. Now a letter has been issued to all the government departments for scrapping the government vehicles which have completed 15 years of age as per the scrapping policy.
The departments have been asked to go to the registered vehicle scrapping facility centers operating in Mandhana and Bhimsen and get the Kandam vehicles included in the scrap. So that the fear of unsafe vehicles plying on the road can be eliminated and air pollution can also be curbed.
The list of cancellation of registration by the Sub Divisional Transport Office includes vehicles of Police, Municipal Corporation, Roadways, Kanpur City Transport Services Limited, Ordnance Factories, Health Department and other departments. Now the Transport Department has made it mandatory for government and semi-government vehicles to be scrapped in the registered vehicle scrapping facility before December 31 through Metal Scrap Trade Corporation (MSTC) or GeM portal.
This matter is being monitored from the Chief Minister's Office. In the letter issued by Additional Transport Commissioner Revenue Dr. RK Vishwakarma to the ARTO administration, it has been said that by coordinating with government and semi-government offices, they should ensure that the vehicles are scrapped in the Registered Vehicle Scrapping Center (RVSF).
ARTO Administration Alok Kumar Singh said that by sending a letter to all the government and semi-government offices, they have been asked to take the condemned vehicles to the authorized centers in the district and include them in the scrap category and take advantage of the government's scrapping policy. Apart from government and semi-government offices, general vehicle owners can avail the benefit of scrap policy by visiting RVSF.
