Jagran correspondent, Varanasi. Before the Mahashivratri festival, the formal beginning of the rituals of Shiva's marriage in Kashi will begin on Friday with the Sagun Haldi of Baba Vishwanath. The traditional procession of Haldi will depart from Shri Yantra Peetham “Shri Dharam Niwas”, the residence of Shri Mahant Lingia Maharaj (Shiv Prasad Pandey) at Bansphatak, to the former Mahant residence at Tedhineem. There, turmeric will be duly offered on the Panchbadan statue of Baba.
Reshi Pandey (Kallu Maharaj), the Deputy Mahant of Badi Shitala Mata Temple, told that according to the ancient folk tradition of Kashi, Sagun turmeric is offered to Baba before the marriage of Shiva. This year, turmeric has been specially procured by the Mahant family of Siddhapeeth Badi Shitala Mata Temple by a devotee from Nashik. On Thursday, turmeric and other offerings will reach Shriyantra Peetham at Bansphatak, from where it will reach the Mahant's residence at Tedhinim on Friday evening. Sarangnath's in-laws will also participate in Baba's turmeric. President of Sarangnath Collective Rudrabhishek Peeth Rahul Sinha and Minister Tippu Pandey told that the in-laws will reach Lingia Maharaj's residence with turmeric from Baba's in-laws Sarangnath temple. From there, under the leadership of Shri Mahant Lingia Maharaj, we will go to Tedhineem Mahant residence along with the people of Kashi.
During this time, Mahant Manish Upadhyay of Sarangnath Temple will also be present. General Secretary of Shiv Baraat Committee, Dilip Singh said that the members of the committee and the residents of Kashi will gather at the Mahant's residence located at Bansfatak and reach Tedhineem in the traditional manner. Sagun Haldi will be offered to Baba amidst the sounds of Damru, Conch Shell and Har Har Mahadev.

Before offering turmeric, special worship of the Panchbadan idol of Baba Vishwanath will be done by 11 Vedic Brahmins in the presence of Mohini Devi, the patroness of the Mahant family. Amidst the echoes of Vedic mantras, there will be traditional and grand adornment of Baba, in which his supernatural image as a groom will be seen.
Shivanjali coordinator Sanjeev Ratna Mishra said that after the Haldi ritual, Nritanjali will be presented by Aditi Sharma and Siddhi Kaustubh and Swaranjali will be presented by Pagal Baba, due to which the atmosphere of Mahant's residence will become devotional.
