Religion Desk, New Delhi. Ekadashi Vrat has great importance in Hindu religion, but 'Vijaya Ekadashi' of Krishna Paksha of Falgun month is considered to bring victory as per its name. In the year 2026, this holy date is falling on 13th February.
According to mythological beliefs, this fast not only destroys sins but also paves the way for victory in the toughest situations.
Mythology of Vijaya Ekadashi
Vijaya Ekadashi is related to Tretayuga. When Ravana had abducted Mother Sita, Lord Shri Ram reached the seashore with his monkey army. Crossing the vast ocean was a big challenge for the army. Then Lakshman ji suggested to Shri Ram that there is an ashram of sage Bakdalbhya nearby and he should ask him for some solution.
When Shri Ram reached the sage, the sage told him that the Ekadashi of Phalgun Krishna Paksha is called 'Vijaya Ekadashi'. If you observe this fast with all the rituals and rituals with your entire army, you will definitely cross the sea and conquer Lanka.
As per the sage's advice, Shri Ram established a gold, silver or clay pot on Dashami Tithi and kept vigil at night while worshiping Narayana on Ekadashi. Due to the glory of this fast, Shri Ram got the way to cross the ocean and he achieved victory by killing Ravana.
Simple worship method for Vijaya Ekadashi fast
Establishment of Kalash: On the day of Dashami, make an altar, place seven types of grains (Saptadhya) on it and install a Kalash filled with water on it.
Narayan worship: After bathing on the morning of Ekadashi, install the idol of Lord Vishnu (Narayan) on top of the Kalash and worship it with scent, flowers, incense and lamp.
Night Vigil: During this fast, staying awake throughout the night and chanting bhajans and kirtans of God is considered especially fruitful.
Importance of donation: On the day of Dwadashi, feed food to a Brahmin, donate Kalash and food and only after that break your fast.
