State Bureau, Lucknow. Negligence is being taken in resolving the complaints of consumers coming on the customer care toll free number 1912 of the electricity department. Even after the expiry of the deadline for disposal, 13,210 complaints are still pending. Citing these figures, the State Electricity Consumer Council has demanded an investigation. Questions have also been raised on the vertical electricity system implemented in many cities. Council President Awadhesh Verma says that the vertical system implemented in many districts including Lucknow, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Noida, Moradabad, Saharanpur, Aligarh, Kesco (Kanpur) has failed. Consumer complaints are not being resolved, consumers have to run here and there in search of officials. At present consumers are completely dependent on toll free number 1912 for electricity related complaints. Power Corporation management started centralized 1912 services from Lucknow and Noida from January 1, but fake disposal of most of the complaints of consumers is being shown. There is no concrete plan to solve the problems of 3.62 crore consumers of the state.
Verma said that in the vertically arranged LESA Lucknow, 2470 complaints were not resolved within the time limit. Even in Kesco, complaints of 3165 consumers have not been resolved within the stipulated period. In such a situation, the Council Chairman has demanded an inquiry from the state government into the pending complaints as well as the changes being made in the electricity system.
However, Power Corporation Chairman Dr. Ashish Kumar Goyal says that in the vertical system there is a complete system for timely disposal of electricity related complaints of consumers. Complaints are being monitored regularly. Clear instructions have been given to everyone that efforts should be made to resolve the complaints within the stipulated period.
