Jagran correspondent, Dehradun. 167 new officers have been deployed in Uttarakhand in preparation for the upcoming Special Intensive Review (SIR). In view of SIR, 167 additional Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) have been appointed in 70 assembly constituencies of the state.
Notification for this has been issued by the Election Commission of India. At present, 70 EROs of SDM level and 268 EROs of Tehsildar level are deployed in 70 assembly constituencies in the state. Apart from this, after the appointment of 167 new AEROs, 435 AEROs in the state will carry out the upcoming special in-depth revision and its preparations.
Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Vijay Kumar Jogdande said that 167 Additional Assistant Electoral Registration Officers appointed by the Commission have been deployed only for the upcoming special in-depth vetting. He said that mainly Block Development Officer, Executive Officer, Assistant Municipal Commissioner, Consolidation Officers and other officers have been appointed in this.
Additional Chief Electoral Officer said that under the Booth Level Officer “BLO Outreach Campaign”, instructions have been given to establish contact, coordination and communication with the voters. He informed that ERO and AERO will regularly monitor the outreach campaign being carried out by BLOs in this campaign.
