Jagran correspondent, Varanasi. Two candidates withdrew their names in the annual elections of Banaras Bar Association. Thereafter, the senior committee formed to conduct the elections released the final list of candidates. 67 candidates had nominated for 20 posts for the annual elections. In the investigation, the papers of four candidates were declared invalid.
Since there are no rivals on six out of 12 posts of Income-Expenditure Inspector, Joint Minister Library and Managing Committee Member (less than 15 years of advocacy experience), their election has been decided unopposed. Now 53 candidates are in the fray for a total of 12 posts. Voting will take place on January 2 while counting of votes will take place on January 4 and the result will also be declared on the same day.
Saturday was the last day of nomination for the Central Bar Association elections. The candidates, along with their supporters, reached the Central Bar Bhavan to file their nominations while raising slogans. The nomination papers of the candidates will be scrutinized on Monday.
