Jagran correspondent, Kanpur. To manage the e-rickshaws and e-autos that have become a menace to the traffic system of Kanpur city, the traffic police has once again implemented color coding and QR code system for e-rickshaws and e-autos, which will be monitored through the Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS). For this, from February 25 to March 5, stickers with color code and QR code will be given after free registration in 37 police stations of the city as well as in the traffic police line.
This new traffic system will also help curb incidents of theft by e-rickshaw and e-auto criminals. ADCP Traffic Rajesh Kumar Pandey gave information about this in the Traffic Police Line on Friday. Earlier too, the department had implemented the QR code system to run them on four routes in four colors, which was unsuccessful.
The traffic police has prepared a master plan to regulate the e-rickshaws and e-autos running unbridled on the city roads and to strengthen their security. The city will be divided into seven zones or seven routes and will be run in different colors like red, green, orange, purple, pink, blue and yellow etc. Their moment-to-moment monitoring will be done through ITMS through Intelligent Traffic Management System.
ADCP Traffic Rajesh Kumar Pandey said that from February 25 to March 5, free bar codes and QR codes will be distributed in 37 police stations and traffic police lines of the city. In the first phase, 10 thousand e-rickshaws will be brought under this purview. ACP Traffic Indraprakash Singh said that after March 5, action will be taken by running a campaign against those e-rickshaw drivers or e-auto drivers who do not get it installed.
This is the registration process
The vehicle owner will have to submit his registration, insurance, Aadhar card, driving license and fitness certificate. After verification of documents, three slips will be filled in these 37 police stations. A slip will be deposited in the records of the police station. The driver will have to come to the police line with the remaining two slips where he will be given the QR code and colored strip of the concerned route free of cost.
Route map will be decorated with seven colors
The traffic police has designated seven zones for e-rickshaws and e-autos, identified as red, green, yellow, purple, pink, blue and yellow. Due to different colors, the traffic police will be able to identify from a distance whether the e-rickshaw is plying on its allotted route or not. Not only this, by scanning the QR code, passengers can know the name of the driver, his fitness and whether he is insured or not. In case of an accident or crime, such e-rickshaws and e-autos can be caught immediately.
Control on theft and high-tech surveillance
The biggest benefit of this system will be in the form of security for e-rickshaw owners. The data of every e-rickshaw will be on the police server. If an e-rickshaw is stolen or changes its route, it can be immediately tracked and caught with the help of ITMS cameras.
Young Indian organization is providing support
Young Indian organization is supporting in this arrangement in which in the first phase, 10 thousand color code and QR code stickers will be given free of cost. Chairman of the organization Sanchit Aggarwal and co-chairman Yash Aggarwal said that the members of their organization have made this effort to organize e-autos and e-rickshaws by raising funds. In the past, his organization has run many campaigns for safe traffic.
