Jagran Bureau, New Delhi. Congress, which was attacking the government accusing it of sacrificing the interests of the country along with the farmers in the trade deal with America, has now announced to take this issue to the public.

In this sequence, the party has decided to organize large-scale protests, rallies and farmer conferences among farmers and people in different parts of the country against the trade deal. Under the campaign, the party will hold the first conference of farmers on February 24 in Bhopal in which the top leadership of Congress will also participate.

Congress has decided to focus its campaign for the time being on the six states most affected by the trade deal: Jammu and Kashmir, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Maharashtra. This decision was taken in a meeting held here on Friday under the leadership of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge with the state presidents and legislative party leaders of these states.

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi along with party general secretaries and in-charges of states were also present in the meeting. After this meeting, Congress Communication General Secretary Jairam Ramesh told journalists that in view of the adverse impact on farmers due to the trade agreement with America, a systematic awareness campaign will be conducted in these six states.

The party will organize a series of farmer conferences to gather public opinion on the trade deal and connect directly with affected farmers. Both Kharge and Rahul Gandhi will attend the first farmers' conference to be held in Bhopal on February 24. Jairam said that the second farmers' conference will be held in Yavatmal, Maharashtra on March 7.

Farmers conference will be held in Rajasthan

After this, the third farmers conference will be organized in Sriganganagar, Rajasthan in March itself. On the points of discussion in this meeting of top Congress leaders on trade deal, Jairam Ramesh said that both Kharge and Rahul Gandhi said that after suddenly stopping Operation Sindoor on May 10, 2025, the trade deal is the second major surrender of the Modi government.

At the same time, both the top leaders stressed that like the long movement of farmers against the three agricultural laws, Congress, along with farmer organizations, will highlight the threats to the livelihood of millions of farmers. The second phase of the campaign against the trade deal will begin after the conclusion of the budget session of Parliament.

Mallikarjun Kharge said in X Post after this meeting that in the meeting with Congress presidents and legislative party leaders of six states, there was a serious discussion on the India-US trade deal and it is clear that the Modi government has compromised the interests of the farmers in this trap deal.

This deal will have a direct impact on cotton, soybean, maize farmers and fruit and dry fruits producers. To protect the rights of farmers, the Indian National Congress will organize 'Kisan Sammelan' and take this issue to every village.
