Jagran correspondent, Bhubaneswar. The state government has given special priority to agriculture and farmer welfare in the budget. A provision of Rs 6,088 crore has been made under the Samriddh Krishak Yojana, while Rs 2,030 crore has been allocated for the Mukhyamantri Kisan Yojana.

The government's focus is clearly visible on increasing the income of farmers, timely payments and strengthening agricultural infrastructure.

Announcement of new agriculture and animal husbandry colleges

Many important announcements have been made in the budget to promote education and research. In this, a provision of Rs 20 crore has been made mainly for opening a new agriculture college in Mayurbhanj district.

Announcement of establishment of College of Veterinary Sciences at Chipilima, College of Agriculture at Balangir and College of Fisheries Sciences at Sonepur, for which a total of Rs 30 crore has been allocated.

Strengthening of paddy procurement and payment system

A revolving fund of Rs 5,000 crore has been proposed to ensure timely payment to farmers and uninterrupted procurement of paddy. A budget of Rs 400 crore has been kept for Shri Anna Abhiyan.

Emphasis on cooperation, river and blue economy

Under the new scheme, Rs 15 crore has been given to empower the cooperative societies. A provision of Rs 10 crore for river linking project and Rs 80 crore for Mahanadi Riverfront Development Scheme has been made in the budget. Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Disaster Management

A provision of Rs 2,019 crore has been made under the Blue Economy initiative to promote the fisheries and animal husbandry sector. A budget of Rs 530 crore has been kept for flood management.

Overall, this budget is considered to give new impetus to farmers, agricultural education, water resources and rural economy.
