Vidya Sagar, Patna. The number of road accidents in the capital Patna is continuously increasing the concern. A total of 736 people have died in road accidents between January and November of 2025, while 426 people have been seriously injured. A total of 1102 FIRs have been registered during this period, which shows that the situation of traffic management and road safety is very serious.
If we look at the monthly figures, the highest number of accidents occurred in February. 129 FIRs were registered this month. 92 people lost their lives. Apart from this, the number of accidents remained quite high in May and June also. जनवरी में 61, मार्च में 76, अप्रैल में 54 और मई में 89 मौतें दर्ज की गईं।
The situation remained worrying in July and August also, where 71-71 people died in both the months. While the number of deaths remained relatively low in October, this figure increased again to 46 deaths in November.
The number of seriously injured people is no less worrying. 60 people were seriously injured in road accidents in February, 50 in June and 48 in July. Overall, 426 serious injuries in 11 months indicate that accidents are not only fatal but are also pushing people towards lifelong disability.
These figures have raised serious questions on road safety. Experts believe that speeding, ignoring traffic rules, drunk driving, overloading, driving in the wrong direction and poor road indicators are the major causes of accidents. District Transport Officer Upendra Pal said that people should follow traffic rules. Make road safety your priority. Special investigation campaigns and awareness programs will be conducted in the coming days.
