8000 Crore Business From GeM In Jharkhand, Digital Purchases Get A Boost

Business worth eight thousand crores has been completed in Jharkhand through GeM and more than 1.5 lakh orders have been completed in this sequence.

State Bureau, Ranchi. Through Government e Marketplace (GeM), a Government of India initiative, business worth about eight thousand crores has been completed in the state and more than 1.5 lakh orders have been completed in this sequence.

This information was shared by the speakers from the center during the Gem Excellence event on Monday. During this, representatives of the departments who made the most purchases on the digital platform were honored.

The event organized in the capital Ranchi aims to promote greater public procurement by introducing Jharkhand government buyers and state based vendors to the new features, processes and improvements of GeM.

Apart from Gem Chief Executive Officer Mihir Kumar, Jharkhand Government's Commercial Tax Secretary Ameet Kumar, Finance Department Special Secretary Abu Imran, Special Secretary Sandeep Singh and Director Kiran Kumari Pasi etc. were present during the program.

In his address, Mihir Kumar said that the category based procurement system on GeM has made public procurement more streamlined, faster and effective. No brand is given any special preference in purchasing through GeM.

This provides equal opportunity to all sellers, increases competition and the government gets goods and services at fair and better prices.

To ensure fair pricing, Gem has empowered an internal market intelligence team which works continuously. Efforts are on to make the GeM procurement process more smart, data-based and transparent with the use of AI technology in the future.

In the programme, the departments making the most purchases on GeM and the best performing vendors of Jharkhand were honoured. In buyer category, Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Department of Jharkhand Government was given Silver Award, Gold Award was given to IT Department and Platinum Award was given to Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Department for GMV (Gross Merchandise Value).

The IT Department was awarded Platinum Award for its remarkable achievement in procurement of services, and the Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Department was awarded Platinum Award for procurement from Jharkhand based Micro and Small Enterprises.

On the other hand, among the vendors, Platinum Award was given to Ravindra Enterprises, Nurawi Imports and Exports Pvt. in the Category-Micro and Small Enterprises. Ltd. was awarded the Platinum Award and Nilay Narayan Palikem was awarded the Platinum in the Startup category.

Later, a special session named GeM Seller Samvad was also organized for the sellers of Jharkhand, in which they got an opportunity to increase participation in government procurement through GeM, understand the processes and get solutions through question and answer. AB Chavan, Additional Chief Executive, GeM, addressed the vendors.
