Under the Special Intensive Revision of Voter List - SIR campaign, after filling of enumeration forms and their digitization in Gorakhpur district, the mapping work is now in the final stage. So far, 84 percent voters have been successfully mapped from the voter list of the year 2003.
These voters will not be required to provide any proof. Khajni and Chaurichaura assembly constituencies are at the forefront with 92 percent mapping in the district. At the same time, there are maximum 26 percent voters in rural assembly constituencies and 22 percent voters in the city who have not been mapped.
In view of the progress of the campaign in some districts of the state and the challenges being faced in the field, the Election Commission has extended the last date for filling the counting form and its digitization from December 11 to December 26. Along with this, the date of formal publication of electoral rolls has also been fixed as 31st December.
In such a situation, the entire emphasis of the district administration is now on accurate mapping and re-verification of ASD (absent, shifted, deceased) voters. Although the district administration claims that the voters who have been marked in this category in the district, very few are found present in the re-verification.
According to the data released on Saturday, maximum mapping is pending in Gorakhpur Rural Assembly constituency. Here 26 percent voters have not been mapped from the voter list of 2003. The situation is also not much better in the city assembly constituency, where matching of 22 percent people is pending.

In contrast, the performance of Khajni and Chaurichaura assembly is the best, where mapping of only 8 percent voters is still remaining. Similarly, mapping of 15-15 percent voters has not been done in Bansgaon and Chillupar.
Deputy District Election Officer and ADM (Finance and Revenue) Vineet Singh said that the emphasis is on mapping as many voters as possible. Whose mapping is being done. They will not be required to provide any kind of identity or certificate.
