Game of religious conversion under the guise of magical water
Jagran correspondent, Chhapra. Controversy has once again come to light in Saran district regarding alleged miraculous healing and religious conversion. On Sunday, in Rauja locality of Chapra city, a person named Paniya Baba alias Vaidyaji has been seriously accused of tricking people into converting to religion and giving them water by reading it.
It was being claimed by Baba that even incurable diseases can be cured by drinking the water read by him. Due to this claim a huge crowd of men and women gathered in the area.
Controversy increased due to crowd gathering in Rauja
According to local people, a crowd of more than five hundred people had reached this meeting organized in Rauja locality. Baba describes himself as a resident of Parsa district of Nepal and was appealing to the people to drink water while meditating on Jesus Christ. Meanwhile, on receiving information about the meeting, Chhapra Municipal Corporation Mayor Laxmi Narayan Gupta reached the spot along with the Mahant of Dharam Dhanni Temple.

The atmosphere became tense as soon as we reached the spot. It is alleged that Baba's supporters and followers pushed and shoved the Mayor. This incident sparked outrage among the local people and the police was informed to handle the situation.
Allegation of holding a meeting without permission
Regarding the matter, Sadar Sub-Divisional Officer Nitesh Kumar said that no permission was taken from the administration by Paniya Baba for any kind of meeting in Rauja locality. He said that the local people have complained about the entire incident by giving a written application in the city police station. The administration has started investigation into the matter and further action will be taken after investigation.

Residents of Rauja locality say that earlier also a similar meeting was organized at the same place last Sunday. People allege that Baba is misleading innocent people by propagating a particular religion. There is an atmosphere of tension in the locality regarding this.

It is noteworthy that earlier on September 10, 2025, similar allegations were made against Paniya Baba alias Vaidyaji in Madarpur village of Bheldi police station area. At that time he was accused of luring people to convert to religion, giving miraculous water and insulting the worshipers of a particular religion.

On September 16, 2025, a video of Paniya Baba was circulated on the internet media, after which, considering the seriousness of the matter, the then District Magistrate Aman Sameer and Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Kumar Ashish took cognizance. On the instructions of the District Magistrate and SSP, Superintendent of Police (Rural) Sanjay Kumar and Sub-Divisional Officer, Marhaura were ordered to conduct a thorough investigation and submit the report.
The administration started investigation into the entire matter
The administration says that the miraculous claims and alleged religious propaganda being made by Baba will be thoroughly investigated. If the allegations are found true then strict action will be taken as per rules. At present, the administration and police are keeping an eye on the entire matter.
