Jagran correspondent, Amritsar. A massive fire suddenly broke out in a house in Brahmachari Gali, Gilwali Gate, Amritsar late night. The family was in deep sleep at the time of the incident.
The fire spread so fast that there was chaos in the street. With the help of neighbours, small children were pulled out with great difficulty, due to which a major accident was averted.
According to the information received, the incident occurred around 1 o'clock in the night. The family was sleeping and smoke was seen coming out from the first floor of the house. People nearby raised noise and woke up the family.
After which the children sleeping in the other room were picked up and taken out safely. It was fortunate that if there had been any further delay, there could have been loss of life as well as property.
Fire department vehicles extinguished the fire in three hours
Due to the street being very narrow, the fire department faced difficulties in reaching the spot. It took a lot of effort to control the fire. After three hours of hard work the fire could be controlled. In the preliminary investigation, the cause of the fire is said to be short circuit. In the incident, many items of the house were burnt to ashes. However, it is a matter of relief that no one's life was harmed.
Take care of equipment in winter
The fire department has advised people to keep checking heaters, wiring and electrical equipment from time to time during winter so that such incidents can be avoided. At the same time, it is advised to avoid sleeping at night by lighting fireplaces in homes.
