Manoj Bisht, Chandigarh. The police has arrested 23-year-old Suhani, a resident of Sector-35, who stabbed her to death and her boyfriend Vinay, a resident of Burail. The knife used in the crime has also been recovered from him. He had bought the knife as part of planning and had consumed intoxicants before the incident.
Police investigation has revealed that this murder took place during the so-called last meeting. A day before, Vinay had called and asked to meet, but Suhani had refused to come.
Suhani said that she is engaged. This made Vinay angry and on Sunday he reached the park in Sector-36 in a planned manner with a knife. Told Suhani that he wants to meet for the last time.
Following his advice, Suhani reached the park. There was an altercation between the two. Vinay was pressurizing Suhani to live with him and was insisting on breaking the engagement. When Sohani started leaving from there, Vinay attacked her with a knife.
He died due to a deep stab wound in the neck. Vinay fled from the spot after the incident. He went straight to his home in Budail. Changed clothes and reached Sector-43 bus stand with a bag full of clothes. He was planning to run away to his village in Bihar.
However, he remained sitting at the bus stand the whole night. Meanwhile, the Sector-36 police station, which was continuously searching, caught him. Police investigation has also revealed that Vinay was not aware that Suhani had died. She thought she was only injured and a settlement would be reached later.
He was intoxicated with Chitta, had entered the CM's convoy.
Vinay was unemployed these days. He had done it before at Sweet Shop. He sometimes consumes drugs (chitta) and alcohol. There was no previous criminal case registered against him, but a week ago he had entered the convoy of the Punjab Chief Minister. After this the police confiscated his bike. The police have produced him in the court and started further action. Investigation of the matter is ongoing.
