PTI, New Delhi. Congress has taken a tough stand regarding the shirtless protest during the 'India AI Impact Summit'. The party has condemned the arrest and detention of its youth wing leaders, calling it an attack on democracy.
Describing these arrests as completely illegal, the party has demanded that all the workers be released immediately and the charges against them should be dropped. The party clearly says that peaceful protest is not a crime and this action of harassment should be stopped immediately.

Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal slammed the government and said, "Peaceful dissent should not be considered a crime or a threat." Protest is the heart of democracy, not a crime. Our workers had highlighted the PM's shortcomings in a peaceful manner."
Delhi Police arrested 7 people
Delhi Police has so far arrested seven people in this case, out of which three arrests have been made from Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh). Besides this, UP youth wing general secretary Hrithik Shukla has been detained and youth wing president Uday Bhanu Chib is being interrogated.
Seven Congress MPs including Shashikant Senthil expressed solidarity with the workers in a press conference.
