Transport vehicle damaged and driver injured after an accident with a truck in Jalandhar.

Jagran correspondent, Jalandhar. Late night, a speeding transport vehicle hit a truck hard in the Gandhi Camp area near Workshop Chowk in Jalandhar city. The driver of the transport vehicle was seriously injured in the accident, while the truck was damaged. After the incident, there was chaos at the spot and a large number of people gathered.

Local people showed promptness and took the injured driver out of the vehicle to the nearest doctor for treatment. Eyewitnesses and people present at the spot alleged that the driver of the transport vehicle was under the influence of alcohol. People say that when the car was searched after the accident, a liquor bottle was also recovered from it. Due to this, anger was seen among the people and they immediately informed the police control room.

The speed of the truck was low due to bad road conditions.

Truck driver Gurmeet Singh told that he was going towards Mandi. Since the road was rough, he started turning the truck slowly. Meanwhile, a transport vehicle coming at high speed from behind hit his truck.

Gurmeet Singh said that it was fortunate that there was no major loss of life or property in this accident, but the collision was so strong that the transport vehicle was badly damaged and its driver was seriously injured. As soon as information about the accident was received, the PCR team of police station division number two reached the spot.

Police engaged in investigation, statement recorded

Investigating officer ASI Jasveer Singh said that he had received information about the accident through the control room, after which a police team was immediately sent to the spot. He said that the police is investigating the matter seriously and the footage of CCTV cameras installed around the incident site is being scrutinized so that the real reason behind the accident can be revealed.

ASI Jasveer Singh said that if investigation proves that the driver was driving under the influence of alcohol, then strict action will be taken against him under the Motor Vehicles Act and other relevant sections. Police have appealed to people to be careful on the road and avoid driving under the influence of alcohol, as it can pose a threat to the lives of not only the driver but also other pedestrians.
