Farmer dies after being run over by tractor during tractor journey (symbolic photo)

Jagran correspondent, Jind. During the Kisan Tractor Yatra being taken out on Republic Day, a 68-year-old farmer, resident of Ramrai village, died after being run over by a tractor. This tractor journey was being taken out from farmer village Ramrai to village Gulkani. The injured farmer was admitted to the civil hospital, but he later died during treatment. The police conducted post-mortem of the body and handed it over to the relatives.

At 10 in the morning, a large number of farmers had gathered at the bus stand of Ramrai village with tractors. Farmers from nearby villages and villages of Hisar also participated in it. Every year farmers take out tractor yatra on Republic Day. A farmer martyrdom memorial has been built in village Gulkani. This journey was to go till Gulkani village only. 68-year-old Bheera, resident of Ramrai, also rode in a tractor.

When the yatra left the village, Bheera's foot slipped and he came under a tractor coming behind. He was admitted to the civil hospital in critical condition. Bheera died after one hour of treatment. When Bheera died, the yatra had reached Gulkani village. As soon as the news of Bheera's death was received, the farmers stopped their program there. Many farmers were to be honoured, but this program was cancelled.

The last rites of farmer Bheera were performed in village Ramrai at six in the evening. A large number of farmers participated in it. Bheera used to do farming work in the village itself. He used to participate enthusiastically in farmers' programs. BKU spokesperson Ramraji Dhull said that Bheera had a huge contribution in the farmers' movement. Farmers will never forget his contribution.
