Instructions to speed up land acquisition for more than two dozen road projects

State Bureau, Patna. The Revenue and Land Reforms Department has directed to speed up the process of land acquisition for more than two dozen road projects. Land Acquisition Director Kamlesh Kumar Singh has sent the list of roads to the districts for which the land acquisition process is going on. The review conducted at the headquarters level found that a majority of the cases were pending due to compensation payment.

There is difficulty due to the coming of temple-mosque and school on the way of the six-lane bridge on river Ganga between Sherpur-Dighwara. Due to improvement in the alignment of Kishanganj-Bahadurganj section of NH 27, there is a problem in land acquisition. Land is required for four and a half km stretch of this section. A letter has been written to the department to arrange compensation payment.

Raiyats of Maranga and Sukhiya Mauza in Maheshkhunt-Saharsa-Purnia section of NH 231 are protesting regarding the rate of compensation. There is also a problem in the Bakarpur-Manikpur section of NH 139W. Payment for the structures in this portion is yet to be made. A dispute over the acquisition of the Muzaffarpur portion of the same project is pending in the High Court.

A six-lane bridge is being constructed on the Ganga river between Sherpur-Dighwara. The matter of acquisition of 580 meter land for this in Saran district is stuck because temples, mosques and schools are coming in the way of acquisition.

Land acquisition action is pending for about 55 km of road on Sahebganj-Areraj-Bettiah section of NH 139W. Even in West Champaran, land is yet to be acquired for about 24 km of this road.

Similarly, the process of land acquisition for 24 km road for NH 119 D is also going on in Vaishali district. The District Land Acquisition Officer has been asked to speed up the pace of compensation payment by coordinating with the requesting department.

Land is also being acquired for this project in Darbhanga and Samastipur districts. The Patna district section of NH 119D is facing opposition from the Rayats of Bhargaon Mauza. This is regarding the low rate of compensation. Director, Land Acquisition, Kamlesh Kumar Singh has asked the District Land Acquisition Officers to speed up the acquisition process by coordinating between the concerned departments and the tenants.
