Bank employees protesting by stopping work in Dhanbad.
Jagran correspondent, Dhanbad. Central Bank of India Strike: Officials and employees of Central Bank of India, Bank Mod branch staged a strike on Tuesday demanding implementation of five days a week working system and making new appointments on vacant posts. Due to the strike, bank operations came to a complete halt throughout the day, due to which customers had to face a lot of problems. This strike was called on the call of United Forum of Bank Unions (UAFBU), under which employees of public sector banks across the country are agitating for their demands. Bank employee Kameshwar Kumar Das said that more than 10 lakh bank officers and employees across the country are involved in this strike.
He said that work pressure is continuously increasing in the banking sector, but the number of employees is not being increased in proportion to it. He also argued that since the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) remains closed on Saturdays, a five-day working week should be implemented in all public sector banks as well.
Employees say that many major companies in the insurance sector, like LIC, also work only for five days, hence similar arrangements should be made in banks also. This will provide mental and physical relief to the employees and will also improve their work efficiency. Many employees including Ratnakar Prasad, Anil Kumar, Deependra Kumar, Dev Kumar, Amit Kumar, Pratima Kumari, Anu Singh and Saddab Ansari were present during the demonstration. Banking services remained disrupted due to the strike, due to which customers who came for cash withdrawal, deposits and other important purposes had to return disappointed.
