Samvad Sutra Jagran, Dhaurahra (Lakhimpur). 55-year-old Sirajuddin, resident of village Mangrauli Majra Sujaikunda, became the victim of a leopard roaming in the fields on Tuesday evening. His mutilated body was found in the bushes of the field on Wednesday morning. After the incident, once again the fear of bloody leopards has spread in the area.
Villagers say that on Tuesday evening, Nizamuddin's son Sirajuddin had gone to cut Gondi (a type of grass from which mats are made) near Dahaura drain. When he did not return for a long time, fearing that he might have become a leopard's prey, the family members started a search and for this information and photos were also circulated on the internet.
On Wednesday, family members searching in the fields found the half-eaten and mutilated body of Sirajuddin, whose entire part below the waist had been eaten by the ferocious animal. As soon as the news of the dead body spread, a crowd of hundreds of people gathered on the bank of the drain and the police and forest department were informed.
Ranger Nripendra Chaturvedi and SO Ravindra Sonkar had arrived with their team. The ranger said that the predatory animal has been identified as a leopard from its footprints. Leopard is reported to be present in this area and cameras and cages will be installed to catch it.
