State Bureau, Jagran, Chandigarh. The Chandigarh administration has filed a detailed reply in the Punjab and Haryana High Court on the death threat received from a foreign number to Indian National Lok Dal national president Abhay Singh Chautala.

Chautala already has 'Y' category security and Chandigarh Police has increased patrolling at his residence. The administration has requested the court to dispose of the petition. On behalf of Chandigarh Police, DSP (Security Headquarters) Lakshya Pandey informed the court through an affidavit that an FIR has already been registered in this case and investigation is going on to identify and arrest the accused.

According to Chandigarh Police, on July 15, 2025, at around 10:55 pm, a WhatsApp call was received on the mobile phone of Karan Singh Chautala, son of Abhay Singh Chautala, in which he allegedly threatened to kill. This call came from the number 44 7466 061671. On this complaint, FIR number 66 dated 15 July 2025 was registered in Police Station Sector-3, Chandigarh. At present, this matter is under investigation.

It was told in the affidavit that during the investigation by Cyber Cell Chandigarh, the IP logs of the concerned WhatsApp number were examined, in which this number was found to be registered with British Telecommunications PLC London (England). It is clear from this that the threat was given through a foreign network. Police told the court that continuous efforts are being made to arrest the accused.

Chandigarh Police also said that threat assessment of the petitioner has been conducted and as per the report, there is a possibility of danger. Keeping this in mind, beat patrolling and patrolling of PCR vehicles has been increased around Abhay Singh Chautala's Chandigarh residence Sector-9/A House No. 80, so that any untoward incident can be prevented.

Along with this, the court was told that Abhay Singh Chautala is already declared a protected person by the Haryana Government and he has been provided 'Y' category security. In this security arrangement, apart from a guard team, seven Haryana Police personnel are deployed on pilot and escort duty, who are providing security at Tejakheda Farm in Dabwali, District Sirsa and other places.

On the basis of these facts, the Chandigarh Administration has requested the High Court that since adequate 'Y' security is already available to the petitioner and all necessary precautionary measures have been taken by the police, the present petition should be disposed of.
