Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has lodged a protest against the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) administration, accusing it of adopting a dictatorial attitude and suppressing student movements.
ABVP alleges that the administration is using expulsion and heavy fines as weapons to intimidate students, which it considers completely undemocratic.
In protest, ABVP workers burnt copies of the orders to express their anger. ABVP JNU President Mayank Panchal alleged that since February 2022, more than 90 workers have faced proctorial investigations and fines. Ten students' registration has been put on hold, and five have not been able to complete their degrees.
During this period, a total fine of Rs 4.83 lakh has been collected. ABVP JNU Secretary Praveen Kumar Piyush said that the current system of investigation is harmful for the democratic environment and should be ended immediately.
He said that the administration is resorting to such rules to hide its failures, which is having a negative impact on the educational environment. The ABVP insisted that it would continue its struggle till final victory, and demanded reinstatement of expelled workers and scrapping of the CPO manual.
