Accident occurred while saving cyclist

According to the information received, the borewell drilling vehicle was passing near Jhadankuli village. Meanwhile, in an attempt to save a cyclist coming from the front, the driver suddenly turned the vehicle, due to which the balance was lost and the heavy vehicle went down the road and overturned. As soon as the vehicle overturned, the laborers and driver in it got hit.

Two employees died on the spot

In the accident, two employees including the driver died on the spot. The deceased have been identified as Rabi Nayak and Shivaji Kanhar. Both were engaged in borewell work. The police have taken the bodies into custody and sent them for post-mortem.

Seven injured, many in critical condition

Seven people have been seriously injured in the accident. All the injured were immediately admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur. According to doctors, the condition of some of the injured remains critical. A cyclist is also said to be among the injured.

As soon as information about the incident was received, police and local administration reached the spot. Traffic was normalized after relief and rescue operations. Police officials said that the cause of the accident is being investigated. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the vehicle suddenly became unbalanced.

The villagers have demanded warning signs, speed control and regular monitoring in this area from the administration.
