The administration ordered a thorough inspection of school buses in Gurugram.

Gaurav Singla, New Gurugram. The administration has adopted a strict stance regarding the safety of school children in the district. Under the safe vehicle policy of Haryana Government, comprehensive and regular inspection of school buses plying in Badshahpur sub-division will be done.

This action has been intensified after the meeting chaired by District Deputy Commissioner Gurugram Ajay Kumar and the order dated January 27, in which clear instructions were given to all the SDMs of the district to ensure timely inspection of school buses and strict legal action should be taken against violation of rules.

In the meeting, DC Ajay Kumar had said that no compromise with the safety of children will be accepted. In view of the accidents and negligence related to school buses in the past years, the administration has taken this step as a timely precaution, so that any untoward incident can be prevented in future.

After this, SDM Badshahpur has issued instructions to jointly run the campaign with the Transport Department, Traffic Police and Education Department. Under this campaign, buses will be thoroughly checked for fitness, permits, insurance, PUC, tax, speed governor, GPS, CCTV cameras, fire safety equipment, first-aid boxes and emergency exits.

Apart from this, valid driving licenses of bus drivers, uniforms, badges, deployment of female attendants, safe seating arrangements for children, clear marking of school name and emergency helpline number on the bus will also be under scrutiny.

Major schools under SDM Badshahpur include Shiv Nadar School, DPS Sector-45, Lotus Valley, Shri Ram School Aravali, Shri Ram School Maulsari, Heritage School, Shalom Hills, Amity International School, Scottish High International School and many others, whose buses will also be checked in a phased manner.

Safety of school children is the top priority. Any kind of negligence will not be tolerated under the safe vehicle policy. If any violation of rules is found, strict legal action will be taken against the bus drivers as well as the concerned school owner and management. This investigation campaign will continue regularly. - Sanjeev Singla, SDM Badshahpur
