Jagran correspondent, Kanpur. Now researchers from IIT Kanpur and startups will cooperate in equipping the Indian Navy with Artificial Intelligence (AI), cyber security and data analytics technology.
Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Tripathi on Tuesday visited IIT's Startup Incubation and Innovation Center (SIIC) and C3I Hub, a major cyber security center, to get information about deep tech startups. He asked the youth to contribute in making India self-reliant with technical proficiency.
Admiral Tripathi learned about 15 high-impact deep-tech startups working in the defense and allied sectors at a special exhibition organized by SIIC.
Among these, he showed special interest in autonomous systems, cyber security, material engineering, drones and advanced manufacturing.
Professor in charge of SIIC, Prof. Dipu Philip gave detailed information about the developed technology, tools, systems and equipment. After inspection for about two and a half hours, the Admiral met the Deputy Director of IIT, Prof. Had a meeting with Braj Bhushan and other officials.
He also asked about the absorption of high technologies from IITs in the Indian Navy and strengthening the security cover. There was also a special discussion about cyber security on the sea shores.
Experts of the institute told about the technologies being developed for digital security of maritime borders, to deal with cyber threats in ports and coastal areas and said that many startups of IIT are doing better work in this direction. They also discussed the possibilities of starting some joint projects.
Deputy Director of the Institute Prof. Braj Bhushan said that it is a matter of pride to welcome Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi and showcase the institute's growing contribution to deep-tech innovation and defence-oriented research.
His visit reaffirms the importance of strong collaboration between academia, startups and the armed forces for the development of indigenous and mission-critical technologies. We remain committed to pursuing research, innovation and entrepreneurship that strengthen India's strategic and technological self-reliance.
Admiral Tripathi welcomed into the institute by Prof. Braj Bhushan, Prof. Tarun Gupta, Air Marshal Philip Thomas and Prof. Dipu Philip did it.
