Jagran correspondent, Bahadurgarh. Amid the controversy over sterilization of dogs in the city, the advocate of Delhi High Court has sent a complaint to eight places including the Director of Urban Local Bodies Department of the State Government and demanded a vigilance investigation.
City resident Advocate Naveen Singal has also given this complaint through e-mail to the Secretary of Urban Body Department, District Deputy Commissioner Jhajjar, Director of Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI), Secretary of State Animal Welfare Board, Director General of State Vigilance and Anti Corruption Bureau, SP of ACB Rohtak and Executive Officer of Municipal Council Bahadurgarh.
It is said that a contract of about Rs 36 lakh has been given to Nain Foundation for the sterilization of three thousand dogs in Bahadurgarh, but the organization does not have the necessary AWBI recognition for this work under the Animal Birth Control Rules 2023. Despite this the campaign was started.
In the last few days, 25 to 30 dogs were caught and removed from their areas. Humane handling of dogs, transportation in authorized vehicles, trained staff and valid documents are mandatory, but these conditions are not being followed.
The way things are being done is animal cruelty. The employees engaged in this work do not have the necessary training. The dogs are being taken to Rohtak, 50 kilometers away. Whereas according to the rules, dogs should be sterilized and released back in the same area after vaccination.
