Jagran correspondent, Pilibhit. The trend of negligence regarding the quality of medicines in the health services of the district is not stopping. After the case of failure of samples of allopathic medicines in the district hospital under the Government Medical College, now the samples of Ayurvedic medicines have also failed.

Five medicines purchased through Gem portal for the Ayurvedic hospital have been rejected by the drug testing team as sub-standard. It is mandatory to check the quality of medicines coming through AYUSH Mission and local purchase. Despite the Government Ayurvedic College having its own pharmacy, due to mutual conflicts, supplies were not available from there on time.

In such a situation, a month ago, in view of the increasing number of patients, a tender was floated for the medicines Sphatik Bhasma, Tankan Bhasma, Shweta Parpati, Lashunadi Vati, Lavangadi Vati. When the concerned firm supplied the medicines, a drug testing team of three-member doctors conducted the investigation. The investigation team found that the colour, smell and chemical formula of the medicines did not conform to the standards.

On this the medicines were declared sub-standard. After the medicines did not prove correct in the tests, the Ayurvedic Administration has directed the dealer of the concerned firm to immediately withdraw its stock from the hospital.

The testing committee found samples of five medicines failed. Under the rules, these medicines have been returned to the concerned firm. The firm has been given a strict warning that next time they should ensure the supply of medicines of complete quality and as per the standards. If again any deficiency is found in the quality of medicines, the tender of the concerned firm will be canceled with immediate effect.
