Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. After arresting three Indian Youth Congress (IYC) workers from a resort in Shimla, who were involved in protesting against the Central Government during the India AI Impact Summit on February 20 at Bharat Mandapam, the Special Cell of Delhi Police, after a long struggle, finally brought them to Delhi on Thursday afternoon.
All three were staying in room number two
At around 6 am on Wednesday morning, the three activists Arbaaz Khan, Saurabh Singh and Siddharth Avadhoot were arrested by the cell from a big resort located in Mandhali, Rohru. All three were staying in room number two of the resort. The room was booked in the name of a local Youth Congress worker. All three had reached there last Monday.
sent on police remand
The Special Cell team reached there on the basis of location and caught them, but after that a high voltage drama went on between Shimla Police and the Special Cell team for about 20 hours. After presenting all three in Patiala House Court on Thursday afternoon, all three were sent on police remand for three days.
Switched off the mobile and ran away
An officer of the Special Cell says that Arbaaz Khan, originally a resident of Sultanpur, UP, was living in Greater Kailash. Saurabh Singh is a resident of Amethi, UP and Siddharth Avadhoot is a resident of Rewa, Madhya Pradesh. After the demonstration at Bharat Mandap, all three had switched off their mobiles and were running away. Delhi Police was continuously keeping an eye on them. On Monday, the Special Cell received information about the trio hiding in a resort in Shimla.
Shimla Police started stopping
After this, at around 6 am on Wednesday morning, under the leadership of ACP Rahul Vikram Singh of Special Cell, a team of 13 members in six vehicles reached Rohru and arrested all three from the resort. The police team also took into custody the DVRs of the CCTV cameras installed in the resort. After completing the paperwork, when the SAIL team came out of the resort with all three, at around 10:15 in the morning, after going some distance, Shimla Police started stopping them at various places on the pretext of questioning.
Doctors were sent away from emergency
There were clashes with SAIL Shimla Police at all places. Wherever Shimla Police blocked the cell's way and argued with them, videos were made so that if needed in future, it could be presented as evidence before the court. Due to being stopped here and there for hours, the cell faced difficulty in getting the medical examination of the three done. With great difficulty, when the special cell reached Shimla's Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital for medical examination of the three late on Wednesday night at around 11 pm, it is alleged that the doctors were chased away from the emergency.
CJM refused to hear
Somehow, after conducting a partial medical examination, the cell took the three accused to the CJM's residence in Shimla at 12 o'clock in the night to present them, but the CJM refused to listen. After this, all three were taken to their Vikas Nagar residence to present them before the ACJM at 1:06 am.
There the ACJM gave permission to send all three on transit remand. After taking transit remand, SAIL wanted to leave for Delhi with everyone, yet they were stopped by putting up barricades at many places. Finally, at 6 am on Thursday, the SAIL team managed to get all three of them to leave for Delhi.
Medical done in Ambala
ACP Rahul Vikram Singh says that the accused have to undergo medical examination within 24 hours of their arrest. In this case, due to not being able to get proper medical treatment done in the hospital in Shimla, keeping in mind the time limit, all three had to get their medical done in a hospital in Ambala on the way.
handed over to crime branch
After reaching Delhi at around 1 pm, the Special Cell handed over all three to the Crime Branch for further investigation. In this case, Delhi Police has so far arrested 11 workers including Indian Youth Congress President Uday Bhanu Chib. An activist hailing from Rajasthan is yet to be arrested.
