ANI, Davos. World's renowned industrialist Elon Musk has said that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is progressing so fast that in the next five years it will become more intelligent than the collective understanding of the entire human race.
During a conversation with BlackRock chief Lawrence Fink at the World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting, Musk said that the power of computers and the capability of AI software is increasing very rapidly. He believes that this change will happen gradually, but its pace is so fast that a big change is not far away.
According to Elon Musk, it is possible that by the end of this year AI will become more intelligent than any single human. He said, “By next year it can be considered certain and within five years AI can be more intelligent than all of humanity.”
Musk also said that AI will not be limited to just computer screens, but will be seen working in the real world in the form of robots. His company Tesla's human-like robots named 'Optimus' are already doing menial jobs in factories. In the coming time, these robots will also be able to do more complex work.
He said that currently these robots will be used in industries, but by next year there is a plan to sell them to the common people also. However, this will happen only when it proves to be completely safe, reliable and useful.
Musk says that in the future, these human-like robots will be able to do almost every kind of work, just as today many tasks are done automatically through software in cars. Overall, AI and robotics may completely change the way humans work, think and live in the coming years.
