Reuters, United Nations. There was a heated debate in the United Nations Security Council on Tuesday between America and Iran regarding the resumption of nuclear talks. The US said it was ready for direct talks with Iran, but Iran rejected Washington's conditions.

US Deputy Middle East Envoy Morgan Artegas said that uranium enrichment in Iran cannot be allowed in any agreement. Iran's UN Ambassador Amir Saeed Iravani called it against Iran's rights under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and said that Tehran will not succumb to pressure.

Before the 12-day war between Iran and Israel in June, five rounds of talks were held between the two countries on the nuclear issue. During this period, America also attacked Iran's nuclear bases.

In late September, the United Nations reimposed an arms embargo and other sanctions on Iran under the 'snapback' process initiated by European countries. Russia and China have opposed this. Iran has denied allegations of making nuclear weapons and said that its nuclear program is completely peaceful.
