Digital Desk, New Delhi. Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav has allowed properly trained post-graduate Ayurvedic doctors to perform elective operations independently. The state government has decided to integrate the ancient Indian medical system with the modern medical system. The government has given this information in an official release.
“Yadav has approved post-graduate Ayurvedic doctors, appropriately trained in surgery, to perform the operations independently,” it said.
Health Minister gave consent
According to the release, the Health Minister has given his consent to Ayurvedic doctors as per the guidelines of the Central Council of Indian Medicine, 2020 and the National Commission for Indian Systems of Medicine.
With this decision, qualified Ayurvedic doctors can perform 39 per cent of general surgeries and 19 per cent of ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) and ophthalmological treatments. These include treatment of infectious diseases, stitching of wounds, piles, fissures, skin grafts and other treatments.

Meanwhile, Yadav, Director of AYUSH Department, K. Had a detailed discussion on further action plan with Dinesh and others. Officials informed the Minister that apart from Dr. NRS Government Ayurvedic College in Vijayawada, there are also two private Ayurvedic colleges in the state.
Yadav directed him to immediately start postgraduate courses in the Government Ayurved College and provide quality education as well as take measures to provide necessary operation theatres, surgical equipment etc.
