On October 3, Asha, a resident of Sandoli village, came to the city government hospital with her seriously burnt son. Seeing that the young man was 80 percent burnt, the doctors referred him to the district hospital. The woman had filed a complaint in the police station accusing village resident Baba of burning her son. He had told the police that his 20-year-old son Lalit used to go to the Kali temple located in the village to worship every day.
Virendra, a resident of Baba village of the temple, used to beat his son and abuse him. At ten o'clock in the morning of October 3, his son went to the temple and was resting in the hut. It was alleged that Baba poured petrol and set the fire on fire with the intention of killing him. His son got badly burnt. She brought him to the government hospital in the city. From there the son was admitted to the district hospital, then to Meerut and finally to AIIMS Hospital in Delhi.
The police had registered an FIR against the accused after taking the woman's complaint. For two months the young man kept hanging between life and death in Delhi's AIIMS hospital. Ultimately he had lost the battle of life. He died during treatment on the night of December 9. The accused was absconding since the FIR was registered.
A reward of Rs 25 thousand was also placed on Baba. But due to continuous change of location the police were not able to arrest him. The police team was busy searching for Baba. Ultimately, after 2 months and 26 days, the police succeeded in catching the accused. On Monday, the police arrested the accused Baba Virendra near the Shiv temple of Haraiya village. After getting the accused medically examined, the police issued a challan to him.
