Jagran correspondent, Bhagalpur. The grant payments for 2007-08 and 2008-09 of 14 funded secondary and inter colleges of the district will be examined. This investigation has been ordered for 139 secondary schools and inter colleges in 35 districts of the state. Director of Secondary Education Sajjan R. has issued instructions to the DEOs of the concerned districts to submit the investigation report within a week.

In fact, these institutions had claimed grants for 2007-08 and 2008-09, following which the department ordered an inquiry to confirm compliance with the terms and conditions. It has been clarified in the notification of the department that the grant will be given only to those schools which fulfill all the terms and conditions prevailing at that time.

According to the guidelines of the department, it was necessary for the school to have three and a half acres of land in urban areas and seven acres of land in rural areas. Moreover, out of the 35 districts in the state, schools in Jehanabad, Sheikhpura and Sheohar districts are not included in this investigation.

A senior official of the department said that at that time many schools were active only on paper, yet they submitted claims for grants. During the investigation, data of 10th and 12th pass students of 2007-08 and 2008-09 will be collected from these 14 schools, so that the calculation of 9th and 11th class students can also be done correctly.

The official also said that many institutions in the state had claimed amounts ranging from Rs 50 to Rs 60 lakh for a year. For this reason, the Department has ensured that only those institutions receive the grant which submit the details of students and resources which are genuine and as per the rules.

The investigation report will confirm the land, number of students, class records and other necessary documents. The decision on payment will be taken only after receiving the report. The objective of this process is to ensure that grants are given only to eligible and genuine institutions, thereby maintaining financial transparency of the education department.
