Digital Desk, New Delhi. Trade unions and farmer organizations across the country have called for a nationwide strike today in protest against the policies of the central government.
This strike is likely to affect banks, transport services and some government works. The joint platform of 10 central trade unions has claimed that about 30 crore workers are taking part in this strike.

All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) general secretary Amarjeet Kaur said in a press conference that this time the level of participation will be higher than before. He said, 'At least 30 crore workers will participate in the strike on February 12.'
During the protests of July 9, 2025, approximately 25 crore workers took part.' According to the unions, the strike will affect work in more than 600 districts, while last year's agitation covered around 550 districts.
The protest is against the Centre's 'anti-worker, anti-farmer and pro-corporate policies'. The joint platform said that farmer groups, agricultural labor unions, students, youth organizations and other federations have supported it.
Although essential services are expected to continue, functioning in many areas may be affected. Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) has announced full support to the strike, while agricultural labor unions will focus on restarting MGNREGA.
Kaur claimed that the strike will have an impact in BJP ruled states also. He said, 'Complete lockdown is expected in Odisha and Assam and people in other states will also participate in it on a large scale.'
Strike notices have been issued in all sectors including government departments, public sector companies, industrial clusters and private places. Campaigns have been run at the district and block level in both rural and urban areas.
What can be closed?
During Bharat Bandh today, the functioning of government offices is likely to be affected at many places. State transport buses and auto services may remain closed. Markets, wholesale markets and shops may be closed. Services of public banks may also be affected.
What will remain open?
At the same time, hospitals, ambulance medical stores and essential health services will continue as before. Apart from this, private offices and ATM services will also remain completely open. Airports and air services will remain operational.
