Bhojpur Passport Fraud: Two Constables Present In Connivance With Suspended Clerk, Postman Also Interrogated

Two constables lined up on charges of collusion with Munshi.

Jagran correspondent, Ghaziabad. Two constables have been put on the line on suspicion of collusion with the suspended Munshi Deepak Kumar of Bhojpur police station in the case of 22 passports issued on fake addresses in Bhojpur police station area. Among these, action has been taken against constable Sandeep posted at Muradnagar police station and constable Vineet posted at Modinagar police station.

These two constables are accused of being involved in passport fraud along with Deepak Kumar. A departmental inquiry is being conducted against the accused. If found guilty in the investigation, further action will be taken.

Police is also investigating the role of another postman of Modinagar area. He is being interrogated. So far, five accused have been arrested in the fake passport case and nine inspectors, two constables have appeared on the line while one constable has been suspended.

Most of the irregularities in passport fraud have been done by the policemen. The Passport Department had sent the files of the applicants to the police and asked for verification. But instead of going to the spot, the policemen did the verification while sitting in the police station. Police officers are not yet in a position to tell how much money the accused policemen took and got the verification done while sitting in the police station.

Whereas during interrogation of postman Arun Kumar, it was revealed that instead of taking Rs. 2,000 per passport and delivering it at the address, he handed over the passports to the agent. Experts say that if the policemen had performed their duty properly, the fraud would have been caught in the beginning, but due to their negligence and connivance, passports were issued to fake addresses.

Preparation for re-checking of previously issued passport verifications

After passport fraud came to light in Bhojpur police station area and the collusion of policemen was exposed, the police is preparing to re-investigate the cases of passports issued in the last two years. Applicants for passports issued in the last two years in Bhojpur police station area can get their verification done on the spot again. First of all the police is searching for the absconding clerk. After he is caught, it will be known how long he had been committing the fraud. A reward can be declared soon on the absconding clerk.

When will criminal action be taken against policemen?

In the name of departmental action, only a line has been drawn against the inspectors and constables accused of playing with the security of the country and doing passport verification sitting in the police station instead of on the spot. Only one constable has been suspended.

Whereas in sensitive matters like passport, criminal action should be taken against policemen. Like the police has registered a case against postman Arun Kumar. But the officers are busy protecting the policemen from criminal cases. Even after several days of investigation, no strict action has been taken against the policemen.

Two other constables have been put on the line due to their collusion with the suspended clerk of Bhojpur police station. The investigation into the entire matter is being conducted rapidly. If found guilty, strict action will be taken. - Surendranath Tiwari, DCP Dehat
