Sankashti Chaturthi Mantras: Chant these mantras on Sankashti Chaturthi
Religion Desk, New Delhi. According to the Hindu calendar, Sankashti Chaturthi is celebrated on the Chaturthi date of Krishna Paksha of every month. This Chaturthi of Phalgun month is known as 'Dwijapriya Sankashti Chaturthi'. It is believed that the person who worships Lord Ganesha with full devotion on this day, mental and financial stress is completely eliminated from his life.
Auspicious coincidence and importance of puja: According to religious calendar and astrological calculations, today i.e. on 5 February 2026, there is a coincidence of Chaturthi Tithi. The meaning of Sankashti Chaturthi is 'Chaturthi that overcomes troubles'. According to the scriptures, this fast is not considered complete without offering Arghya to the Moon on this day. By doing puja after moonrise at night, one gets special blessings of Bappa.
Special Ganesh mantras to be chanted on Sankashti Chaturthi and their meanings
1. Shri Ganesh Vandana (for success)
This mantra is recited first for the smooth completion of any work.
Mantra: Vakratunda Mahakaya Suryakoti Samaprabha. O Lord, grant me free from obstacles in all my endeavors at all times. Meaning: O brilliant god with a crooked banyan tree, with a huge body, like millions of suns! Please fulfill all my actions without obstacles.
2. Obstacle Liberation and Mool Mantra (For Career)
These mantras remove small and big obstacles in life and open the way for progress.
Om Gan Ganapataye Namah: (This is the basic mantra of Lord Ganesha, which means - I bow to Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles.)
Om Vighnesvaraaya Namah: (I salute Lord Ganesha, lord of obstacles.)
Om Vakratundaya Hum: (This is a powerful beeja mantra that destroys negativity.)
3. Crisis Prevention Mantra (for difficult times)
Mantra: 'Om Namo Heramba Mad Mohit Mam Sankatan Nivaraya-Nivaraya Swaha.' Meaning: O Heramba (a name of Lord Ganesha), who removes the attachments and sorrows of the devotees, please remove all the troubles of my life.
4. Good Luck and Prosperity Mantra (For Business)
Chanting these Lakshmi-Ganesh mantras is best for growth in business and happiness and wealth.
Mantra: 'Om Srim Hrim Klim Glau Gm Ganapataye Vara Varada Sarvajana Me Vashamanaya Svaha.
Mantra: Om Srim Gm Saubhagya Ganapataye. O Varvarda, I offer my obeisances to you in all my births.
Meaning: Through these mantras, prayers are made to Lakshmi ji and Ganesh ji to bestow us with good fortune and bring us fame and success in the world.
5. Mantra of Wisdom and Knowledge (For Students)
Mantra: ॐ Ekdantaya vidmahe vakratundaya dhimahi tanno danti prachodayat. Meaning: We know that one-toothed (Ganesh), we meditate on Him Vakratunda. Let them inspire our teeth (Bappa) with the teeth of the hand.
6. Praise and dedication (for mental peace)
Mantra: Gajanana is served by ghosts, hosts, etc., Kapittha, jambu fruit and charu bhakshana. I bow to the lotus feet of Lord Vighna, the destroyer of sorrow, the destroyer of sorrow. Meaning: I bow at the lotus feet of Vighnaharta, who is served by the faces of elephants, who is served by the ghosts, who eats the fruits of Kaith and Jamun, who destroys mother and Parvati.
7. Gannath Namo Namoste
Mantra: O Lord of obstacles, bestower of boons, dear to the gods, O Lambodara, O Sakala, O lord of the world. Obeisances to you, O lord of the Ganas, the son of Gauri, who is adorned with the fire of hearing and who is adorned with the sacrifice of hearing. Meaning: The lord of obstacles, the giver of boons, the dearest of the gods, the welfare of the entire world, the face of the elephant, the son of Gauri, adorned with the Vedas and sacrifices, is repeatedly saluted.
Based on religious customs and traditions, take a vow to fast in front of Lord Ganesha after morning bath. Offer him red sandalwood, Akshat, Durva (grass) and his favorite Modak. It is believed that reciting 'Ganesh Chalisa' or 'Sankatnashan Ganesh Stotra' on this day brings positive energy into the house.
