Ganja seized from Bolero. (Awakening)
Samvad Sutra, Raghopur (Supaul). Raghopur Police got a big success on Sunday in the campaign being run against drug dealers. Police cordoned off JP Chowk in Simrahi market and recovered a huge quantity of ganja from a Bolero.
The weight of the recovered ganja is said to be 451 kg, whose value in the international market is estimated to be more than Rs 25 lakh. Along with arresting two smugglers from the spot, the police have also seized the Bolero vehicle used in smuggling.
According to the information received, Police Station Head Amit Kumar had received information on Sunday morning that a gang of smugglers was going to Saraigarh Bhaptiyahi with a big consignment of ganja from Araria.
Seeing the seriousness of the information, the police station chief formed a special team and started the police investigation of suspicious vehicles by blocking JP Chowk. Meanwhile, the police signaled a white Bolero coming from Araria to stop.
As soon as they saw the police, the people in the car started panicking. On suspicion, when the police conducted a thorough search of the vehicle, a total of 451 kg of ganja packed in 13 sacks was recovered. The police immediately took both the smugglers into custody and brought the vehicle to the police station.
The smugglers caught by the police have been identified as smugglers resident of Araria district. Whose name is Mu. Ajir Alam (28) Sakin Hariyabara Ward 07, Police Station Araria and Alam Khan (40) Sakin Narhua Patraha Ward 04 Police Station Ghurna, District Araria.
Police engaged in investigation
The police station chief said that the arrested smugglers are being interrogated. He said that information was received that a consignment of ganja was going to pass through JP Chowk. 451 kg of ganja was seized during the siege. This consignment was being taken from Araria towards Saraigarh Bhaptiyahi. The police is carrying forward the investigation to find out other networks and the main leader of this gang.
This major action taken in the middle of the market in broad daylight regarding de-addiction campaign has created a stir among the drug trafficking gangs. Local people have appreciated this promptness of the police. The police are now trying to find out from where such a large quantity of ganja was brought and where the plan was to dispose of it further.
