Jagran correspondent, Lucknow. A large consignment of heroin being sent from Nepal to Delhi via Lucknow has been seized. The team of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence raided a bus going from Kathmandu to Delhi near BBD and recovered 5209 grams of heroin worth Rs 10.40 crore. The team has arrested Delhi resident Sandeep.
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence had received information that a consignment of heroin was being sent from Kathmandu via Lucknow. It was to be sold to the youth of Delhi and NCR. The team checked the bus going from Kathmandu to Delhi near BBD.
A thorough search of a passenger's luggage was conducted. 5,209 grams of white powdery substance kept in four packets was recovered from him. A field test was conducted on the spot and the substance was found to be heroin. The value of recovered heroin is said to be Rs 10.418 crore.
When the DRI team in plain clothes stopped the bus near BBD, its staff protested against it. The bus was stopped on the highway and the luggage of the passengers was thoroughly searched. The recovered heroin was seized under the provisions of the NDPS Act 1985.
