State Bureau, Patna. The Transport Department has issued show cause notices to 40 transport officers over low revenue collection. These include ten DTOs (District Transport Officers), 10 ADTOs (Additional District Transport Officers) along with 20 MVIs (Motor Vehicle Inspectors) and ESI (Enforcement Sub Inspectors) from Patna, Muzaffarpur and Bhagalpur. Explanation has been sought from these officers within three days, otherwise departmental action will be taken.
Transport Minister Shravan Kumar held a departmental review meeting recently. In this, gross negligence was found in achieving the revenue target set for the financial year 2025-26. All of them were given two months time for improvement but even after the stipulated time limit had passed, the performance of these officials was not found satisfactory.
The Minister clarified that in future, deputation of officials will be ensured only on the basis of their performance. The work of the concerned officials will be reviewed again within the next 15 days with the aim of increasing revenue collection.
According to departmental information, notices have been given to Bhagalpur DTO Janardan Kumar, Chhapra DTO Latifur Ansari, Madhubani DTO Ram Babu, Muzaffarpur DTO Kumar Satyendra Yadav, Patna DTO Upendra Kumar Pal, Sitamarhi DTO Prashant Kumar, Kishanganj DTO Dixit Shweta, Arwal DTO Amanpreet Singh for less revenue collection.
Notice has also been given to DTOs of Rohtas and Samastipur. All of them have collected only between eight to 14 percent revenue. Similarly, ADTO Salim Prashant of Kishanganj, ADTO Upendra Rao of Madhubani, ADTO Pinku Kumar of Patna along with two from Muzaffarpur and ADTOs of Sitamarhi, Vaishali, Bhojpur, Siwan, Motihari have been asked to explain the reason.
