Digital Desk, New Delhi. A major political move has come to light in the US Congress amid US President Donald Trump's threat to "do something" on Greenland. Republican MP from Florida, Randy Fine, has introduced the 'Greenland Annexation and Statehood Act' to annex Greenland to the US and eventually make it a US state.

This bill proposes to give the President the authority to use "all necessary means" to bring Greenland into the US union. At the same time, Denmark and Greenland are trying hard to prevent Greenland from going under US control. The foreign ministers of both the countries will meet US Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Wednesday.

What did Levitt say?

White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt has said that President Trump believes that if Greenland does not become part of America, then sooner or later it will come under the control of Russia or China, which will not be a good thing for America or Europe. Congressman Fine, who introduced the bill in the Senate, linked this step to America's national security and said on Twitter that the influence of Russia and China in the Arctic region is increasing rapidly.

According to him, control over Greenland would allow the US to not only hold onto important Arctic shipping routes, but also secure its northern border. Earlier, President Trump had said that America wants to make a deal in an easy way, but if necessary, tough methods will also be adopted.

When will Greenland join America?

Leavitt said President Trump has not set any timeline for annexing Greenland to the United States, but doing so is certainly a priority.

What will be special in the bill?

Under the bill, the US President will be given the authority to negotiate with Denmark to acquire Greenland as a US territory. The President must then present a report to Congress detailing the legal changes needed to include Greenland as a US state. This process will be based on the condition that Greenland adopts a constitution that is consistent with the US Constitution and is republican in nature.

However, the leaders of both Greenland and Denmark have already made it clear that the islands can neither be sold nor annexed by any other country. He says that only the people there have the right to decide the future of Greenland.

Greenland PM Jens-Fredrik Nielsen said that we are facing a geopolitical crisis and if we had to choose between America and Denmark, we would choose Denmark. We stand with the Kingdom of Denmark.

Greenland's Trade and Mineral Resources Minister Naja Nathanielsen said that the people of Greenland are extremely concerned about American rhetoric. Worried people are not able to sleep and children are scared and we are not able to understand anything. He said that it seems strange to even think that Greenland can be sold or separated.
