Samvad Sutra, Chikaniya (Dumka). Chutonath Temple is situated in Bediya Panchayat of Jama block, just eight kilometers from Dumka. Situated in the lap of nature, Chutonath is famous for the temple of Shiva-Parvati and Chuto Pahari Baba.

The devotees coming here, after worshiping Bholenath and Parvati in the temple, enjoy the beautiful views along with the Chuto mountain and the natural beauty of the place. Although Chutonath is crowded with tourists and devotees throughout the year, Chadak Puja has special significance during the full moon day, Mahashivaratri and the first month of Baishakh. A huge crowd of tourists gathers here on New Year.

Deep connection of religion and faith

Chutonath Dham is a symbol of folk faith. Baba Chutonath is considered to be the embodiment of Lord Bhole Shankar. It is a popular belief that Baba Chutonath protects his devotees from all kinds of evil. All kinds of wishes are fulfilled in his court. The place of worship of Pahari Baba is situated near the temple of Chuto Baba at the foothills of Chuto mountain amidst lush green trees. He is recognized as the creator of Chuto Baba. That is, Pahari Baba fulfills the wishes sought from Baba Chutonath.

When the wishes are fulfilled, people sacrifice patha (goat), cock etc. to Pahari Baba. There is a tradition of offering liquor as Prasad. According to the belief, the sacrifice offered here, worshiped as a forest god, is not offered in any sacrificial altar. The attack is made directly with a dagger.

Development taking place from the point of view of religious tourism

With time, facilities are being increased in Chutonath so that the devotees and tourists coming here can have maximum stay. To promote eco-tourism, a biodiversity park is being constructed on an area of about four and a half hectares by the forest department. Work is going on at many levels in this park, which is being built at a cost of approximately Rs 10 crore.

The special thing is that an open auditorium is being constructed for the tourists coming here. Apart from this, a big pond is also being constructed in its premises. Many types of facilities are being established for the entertainment of children.

Almost 70 percent of the park construction work has been completed. The remaining work is also expected to be completed by the end of January of the new year. If the construction work of the Biodiversity Park is completed by the end of January, then it will undoubtedly be a wonderful New Year gift for the people of this area.
