Black business of dead cow hides in Hisar (symbolic picture)
Jagran correspondent, Hisar. When the skins of the dead cattle of Hisar started traveling to Calcutta, the alertness of the cow protectors exposed this trade. In fact, three days ago, a truck full of skins of dead cows was caught in Rampur, UP, after which the investigation of the case reached the Municipal Corporation of Hisar.
On Monday, the team of Special Operation Group of Rampur (UP) reached Hisar Municipal Corporation in connection with the investigation. Here questions and answers were asked from the Additional Corporation Commissioner regarding the lifting, disposal of dead animals and the contracts related to it. The team took copies of the work orders issued by the corporation and scrutinized the documents closely.
Inspection of cowsheds, investigation of every link
The police investigation team inspected Haddarori, cow sanctuary and some cow sheds located in village Dhandhur. The situation at the places where dead animals are skinned in Haddarodhi was observed and the condition of those places was examined. The distance between records and reality was measured and the team returned after gathering information.
The investigation was handed over to the Special Operation Group
According to a member of the Special Operation Group of the police, cow vigilantes had caught a truck full of skins in Rampur (UP) three days ago at night. There was a lot of commotion on the spot. Police seized the truck and detained the driver and handed over the investigation to the Special Operation Group. During interrogation it was revealed that the skins loaded in the truck belonged to a contractor from Hisar. From here the direction of investigation turned towards Hisar and a special team of police came to Hisar for investigation.
Skin trade till Calcutta-Jalandhar
Contractor representative Vicky, resident of Telian bridge area, said that the acquaintance has taken the tender from the Municipal Corporation to pick up the dead animals. The dead animals are first picked up by vehicles and then brought to Haddarodhi, where they are skinned. Dead animals are also brought from cowsheds. After five-six months the collected skins are loaded in trucks and sent to Calcutta and Jalandhar. The truck that had left for Calcutta four days ago was caught in Rampur. Therefore the police has come to Hisar for investigation. Have shown them the documents.
Inspector Brijesh Kumar of the special team said that the records of the Municipal Corporation have been examined. The corporation has given a tender to pick up the dead animals. Have also inspected Haddarodhi where skins are removed. Apart from this, the cow shed was also inspected. Copies of documents related to the tender have been taken and are being investigated.
Beef smuggling exposed in 2022-23
In the year 2022-23, a vehicle loaded with beef was caught at Madina Toll in Rohtak. During interrogation, the driver had taken the name of Dhandhoor of Hisar. Animal meat and bones were found scattered in Haddarodhi area, samples of which were sent for investigation.
Work order from 2025 to 2030, 28 lakh deposited
The Municipal Corporation has issued a tender for picking up dead animals from February 2025 to February 2030. Under this, about Rs 28 lakh has been deposited by the contractor in the corporation. The work order is being given in the name of Ravi Kumar.
