Jagran correspondent, Dehradun. Within 24 hours, the police has arrested the delivery boy of Blinkit who snatched the mangalsutra from the neck of an elderly woman in Raipur area. Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Singh said that on January 25, Ganesh Dutt, resident of Bahuguna, Nathuwawala Dhang Raipur, gave a complaint that his mother Kunti Devi was going on foot towards Khairi Khadar to her relatives' place in the morning. During this time, a person riding on a bike without a number plate chased him and suddenly pounced on him on the way down from Shiv Mandir Dhang, snatched the Mangalsutra from his neck and fled from the spot.
On the basis of the complaint, a case was immediately registered against the unknown in Raipur police station. Considering the seriousness of the incident that happened with the elderly woman, instructions were issued to Raipur police station incharge Girish Negi to arrest the accused. The police team checked the footage of CCTV cameras installed at the spot and the roads around it. On the evening of 26 January, the accused Sachin, resident of village Rasoolpurkala, police station Fatehpur, district Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, current resident of Jogiwala, Ring Road, was arrested from the forest near Badrish Colony, from whose possession the Mangalsutra snatched in the incident was recovered.
During interrogation, the accused told that he works in Blinkit's agency located on Ring Road. To fulfill his expensive hobby, he had borrowed money from many people, and in the greed to repay it and earn quick money, he planned a robbery. During the delivery of Blinkit, he started tracking the women passing by alone. While going to work on the morning of 25 January, he saw an elderly woman walking alone in Nathuwawala Dhang area, where seeing the opportunity, he snatched the mangalsutra from the neck of the elderly woman and fled from the spot.
The hobby of expensive mobile took him behind the bars
Dehradun: The accused's fondness for expensive mobiles landed him behind the bars. Inspector Chandrabhan Adhikari, in-charge of Patel Nagar Kotwali, said that on January 26, Saurabh Goyal, resident of Priya Lok Colony, lodged a complaint that the accused unknown person had stolen iPhone mobiles from his shop. In this case, a case was registered against unknown person and investigation was started. On receiving information on Tuesday, the accused Ashu Kumar, resident of village Kadpur, Tehsil Behat, police station Behat, district Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, who carried out the incident, were arrested from a vacant plot located at Harbhajwala. Two stolen iPhones were recovered from the possession of the accused.
One who stole jewelery from house in Defense Colony arrested
Dehradun: Nehru Colony police station has arrested an accused who committed theft in a house located in Defense Colony. Jewelery worth about Rs 2.5 lakh has been recovered from the accused. Police Station Head Nehru Colony Sanjit Kumar said that on December 31, 2025, Satish Bhandari, resident of Defense Colony, told that an unknown person had entered his house and stolen cash and jewellery. In this case, a case was registered against unknown person in Nehru Colony police station. On the basis of the footage of CCTV cameras installed around the incident spot, the accused Sahil alias Badshah resident of Muradpur Malla police station Muradpur, District Tarn Taran, Punjab was arrested. Stolen jewelery worth Rs 2.5 lakh was recovered from the accused.
