A youth running a canteen near a liquor shop in village Kumrala of Gajraula police station area was shot and injured by two masked assailants riding a bike. The bullet was fired from a 12 bore pistol, whose shrapnel hit the young man's face. After first aid he has been referred to Meerut.
Village resident Bhupendra alias Bhola was sitting in his canteen at 9:45 pm on Monday night. During this time, two youths riding a bike reached there and took out a pistol and fired at them. After committing the crime the attackers fled towards Brajghat. The people present at the spot also chased the miscreants, but could not succeed in catching them.
There was chaos in the area after the incident. Here, on information, the police reached the spot and admitted the injured to the Community Health Center. Where he was given first aid. Later, when his condition became critical, he was referred to Meerut. The relative and the injured have denied any old enmity.
Police are scanning the footage of CCTV cameras installed nearby. It is suspected that the canteen was attacked over a dispute over some issue. Inspector in-charge Manoj Kumar said that the matter is being investigated. Soon the accused will be identified and the incident will be exposed.
